Quote.
“When you live your life with honesty and integrity, there is nothing that anyone can ever take away from you.”
The Bible says:
Genesis 27:20
But Isaac said to his son, “How have you found it so fast, my son?” And Jacob said, “Because the Lord your God made it happen.”.
Genesis 27:24
Isaac said, “Is it true that you are my son Esau?” Jacob answered, “I am.”
Because You’re too LOADED
Live in honesty and integrity.
There is much to say about these Bible passages but I’ll keep it short.
On the contrary to last week’s weekly inspiration, here we see dishonesty in action.
Jacob decided to deceive his father to obtain his brother Esau’s blessing.
He pretended to be someone he wasn’t. Oh how many times we do that, in the things we say and do.
But to cut a long story short, God cannot be mocked, whatever a man sows (does) that is what he shall reap (receive) Galatians 6:7
In this scripture Jacob tricked his dad pretending to be his brother Esau. Later in Genesis 29:1-25 we see Jacob being deceived by his uncle Laban and it cost him 7 years of his life.
It’s a classic reap what you sow story.
However, there is another lesson to learn here too. Isaac was really unsure about whether or not it was really Jacob that brought him the food, but still went ahead and blessed him without getting his doubts checked out.
Let’s be mindful of the red flags of life. God gave us instincts for a reason. It’s inbuilt in every human being. If you don’t feel comfortable about a situation, ponder why, what may not be right? Whether it’s what someone says or does, something you’ve heard or something you’ve been asked to do.
As Christian’s we have been given the Holy Spirit for a reason. He is your counsellor and the word of God is also a light on your path of life. (Psalm 119:105)
Let’s always check in with the two before making decisions and of course, those trusted people in your life.
The Bible says in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. (Proverbs 11:14.)
Sometimes making decisions on your own can be unwise. Look what happened to Isaac. He wasn’t sure, but went ahead without checking out his doubts. It cost his son Jacob dearly, in more ways than one!
We thank God for His mercy
Much love in the Lord.
